About Me

Assalamu Alaykum!

Yes I’m talking to you,

May God’s peace and blessings be with you.

This is a place for anyone looking for a relationship with the Divine, with God, The Almighty and Merciful.

Who am I?

I’m Arthur Richards, not to be confused with the Aardvark and no, DW is not my younger sister. img_9755

I’m a husband, father, community activist, student, and a teacher that likes to give his entirety to the betterment of all.

I’m somewhat of a world-traveler as well though I haven’t actually traveled that much. I’ve journeyed the world through literature, through every Chinua Achebe, Isabel Allende, and Anita Desai.

I love books and stories and I’m currently working on one about my journey in faith. I also write short stories that I share with a priviledged group of readers via my Patreon page, you can gain access to this page by signing up here. I can’t wait to be able to share my work with you.

I’m currently a student and I dedicate the majority of time to my studies. My journey began as a pre-law student, I became an English Literature graduate with my Bachelor’s Undergraduate thesis on Shakespeare’s the Tempest and Postcolonial Theory (Nerdy I know). Now I am living abroad and studying the traditional fields of Islam.

My aim is to teach and to portray the beauty of Islam to mankind.

It was Jesus (God’s peace and blessings upon him) and my path in Christ that led me to God. (I’m sure you’ll want me to talk more on this at some point. Just wait for my book.)

In my free time I usually spend reading the word of God, studying for my Arabic exams, or Islamic Jurisprudence, or Islamic theology, or memorizing the texts for all the above. I do this because I want to teach the message of God, it’s ultimately what my parents raised me to do.

My Journey

I wasn’t always Muslim and so I want to share my journey with you. How did I get here? Why am I living abroad in the land in which Moses was born and was raised in and the land in which Joseph became known (Peace be upon them both). This is a blessed land and what I learn here through my experiences is no doubt blessed as well. I want to share that.

Reflections on Faith and Spirituality

We all go through so much in our daily lives. Sometimes a small reminder that God is still Merciful and Loving is needed. My path of religion is one mixed with the spirituality of my teachers, my life experiences and the tests that we all have to overcome in worshipping God.

Minibus Chronicles

You haven’t experienced real life lessons until you’ve ridden an auto bus in Africa. I want to tell you about my experiences, I want to tell you the stories so that you and I both can benefit from them.

So all of the pictures you find on this blog were taken by me and I hope you enjoy them. You can also follow my Instagram for more updates!

There is so much more that will come as this blog grows but for now, you should know that this is for you, and for those who believe.
